Anyone who is trying to lose weight knows that there is a simple formula for weight loss: eat less and be active regularly. This goes for snacking as well as eating deserts after each meal.
As mentioned on the About Me page of this site, I was at a point where I was eating better at each meal but still had an issue with weight gain. It was only when I wrote down every morsel of food that went into my mouth that I realized I was still not abiding by the above simple weight loss formula of eating less and being active. I had to stand back and review my entire eating and snacking lifestyle. Once that was done I realized what needed to be done. I cut out deserts at lunch and dinner and opted instead for the low fat, no sugar varities of deserts or better still, I would have no desert at all, saving that part of the meal for very special occasions.
Following my own advice, I soon dropped 8 pounds in a little over a month. And that was done without exercise. I just watched what I ate and was extremely conscious of what I put in my mouth. I kept my end goal in site with each meal and I still do. Mind you, it's not easy and there were times I would fall back into my old habits. But I quickly pulled myself back up and ate better at the next meal. As long as I wasn't mindlessly stuffing food into my mouth I was able to keep on track.
Now I am happy to say as of this writing (March 1, 2008) I am a few pounds below the 200 mark (from 214) and I am sticking with it. Especially with snacking. I have used many of the products I refer to throughout this site and they help keep me in check. I have also discovered how delicious fruit is again and I am even doing some veggie meals which is always a good thing.
Having stuck with this regime, I am feeling way better about my weight, about myself and about who I will be in the future. As vain as it may seem, I want to be the guy that people look at with admiration and respect knowing that I have turned my life around and attacked my weight loss issues head on and won. I know you can do the same and I hope this site helps as a starting off point. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions and I look forward to hearing your success stories no matter how short. All the best in attaining your goals.
