This section about fruit as a healthy snack alternative should really be a no-brainier. I often refer to fruit as God's desert because of their natural sweetness, fiber and good-for-you nutrients and vitamins. Bananas, apples, grapferuit, grapes, kiwi's, strawberries, blueberries, wild berries, rasberries, oranges, pears, peaches, pineapple, mango, papaya and any other fruit you can think fit nicely into any healthy lifestyle. And the health benefits alone, regardless of weight loss issues, are astounding. I remember my mom always having a big bowl of fruit in the middle of the kitchen table which made it very easy to grab an apple or a pear when I was feeling peckish. Come to think of it, as I got older and began reaching for bags of chips and chocolate bars instead of fresh fruit, that's when the pounds started creeping up. No mystery there!
All that being said, sometimes it's hard to take fruit with you when you are constantly on the go or have a small handbag or what-not. If this is the case I would then reccomend dried fruit as a fruit snack alternative. Obviously it doesn't replace the real thing but it definitely comes in handy in a pinch and as snacks go, are probably healthier for you. Also, if you can find the organic varieties then all the better. Click here to check out a few products that I have come across in my travels for a healthier snack option, and as always, if you have any reccomendations of your own please feel free to contact me and I will add them to the list.
