Store Bought Cereals And Popcorn Make Healthy Eating A Priority!
According to a News report I just watched, store bought cereals and popcorn contain antioxidants which can help in the fighting of certain diseases like heart disease, obesity and certain cancers. Apparently these foods contain significant amounts of an antioxidant called Polyphenol and may be “more beneficial than fiber”. Polyphenol’s can be found in Chocolate, Wine, Coffe and some fruits and vegetables. Now, I knew that cereals and popcorn were good healthy snacks as part of a healthy eating regime, but I was surprised to hear that they could even be a greater form of antioxidants than whole grains. As a healthy alternative, I would stick to air popped popcorn though, since you don’t want to be subjected to all the added junk “tossed” into the mix of the more commercial varities.
I usually have some one serving cereal boxes stocked in the pantry and believe me, when I have a sweet craving, eating the dry cereal right out of the box stems that craving for a long time…:)
